Description |
Orange transitional-style big shirt with 4 rows of patchwork, 5 rows of ric-rac (black, purple, dark blue, red) and 7 rows of applique (black, eggplant, forest green, sky blue, pink). Cotton fabric attached to waistband is orange and grey striped. This item was given to the donor's father-in-law, Col. Leonard H. Rodieck. According to the donor, the item was gifted as part of a ceremony that took place in Florida symbolizing peace between the Seminole nation and the United States government. This event must have taken place in the 1940s or 1950s. The donor has had the jacket and skirt in her possession since the 1960s, and she wanted to return them to the Seminole Tribe of Florida. |
