Catalog Number 2003.308.1
Object Name Coin, Commemorative
Description Bronze Osceola medallion/coin. The obverse has three-dimensional, low relief, head of Osceola at three-quarters view facing towards the right. In large writing in low relief along the right edge is "OSCEOLA, FLORIDA 1845". In smaller font along the bottom edge is "SAM" and "Ralph J. Menconi © 1968".

On the back of the medallion/coin has a scene of a Native American with three head feathers standing in front of a river with a boat. In the background the sun is rising from behind mountains and there is one tall central palm tree. Around the outside of the image is written "GREAT SEAL OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA, IN GOD WE TRUST".

Along the outer edge of the coin is stamped "…LIC ART CO, NY". The beginning letters are lost due to the fact they are not stamped hard enough. The original pastperfect record says that the coin is from Maco, NY.
