Object Name Doll
Description Female palmetto fiber doll holding a wooden pestle. This doll goes with 1999.53.3, which is a mortar. The doll is dressed in a skirt and matching cape made from strips of blue, red, black, yellow and white plain weave cotton. There are no patchwork strips in the doll's clothing. The doll has two arms made from palmetto fiber that are tied to the wooden carved pestle with synthetic sinew (?). The doll has a necklace made from brown, yellow, black, green and white glass beads that is wrapped around her neck four times. The doll's eyes, mouth and eyebrows are sewn out of yarn and cotton thread. The doll has a traditional Seminole hairstyle that is formed from black jersey fabric over an interior form.
