The matchbook has the bust of Manuelito in a wound turban headdress, gold hoop earrings and beaded necklace on the closing flap printed in brown, yellow, green, black and orange on a yellow background. He is labeled, "Manuelito" and "Navaho Chief". The text panel on the back has a black eagle design in the top left corner and reads, "In 1860, the prosperous Navaho chief, Manuelito engaged in war with the U.S. After eight years of battles and miserable reservation life, the Navahos were permitted to return to their home lands."
The flat matches have black fronts and backs with blue sulfur tips.
