Half tone photoengraving block consists of a wood block with a metal plate, possibly copper, on top of it. The plate has an image of a Native American man in a fur head band with horns and two nails are sticking up from the top of the wood base of the plate. The image appears in the book: Speck, F.G. "A Study of the Delaware Indian Big House Ceremony" Volume 2. Harrisburg, PA: Pennsylvania Historical Commission, 1931. The image appears on page 95 with the following caption underneath: "Fig. 25 - The Delaware red deer-hair roach with carved bone spreader, bone tube and eagle feather (rear view), and the fur head band with horns, worn in ceremonial dress." A copy of the book and the image can be found in the three-ring binder of documentation associated with the collection (1997.57.326).
