Object Name Saddle
Description Grimsley Saddletree (the frame of a saddle). The saddle tree has a wooden core covered with rawhide. Sinew stitches hold the rawhide together at the seamed edges. On the proper right side is stamped "P.V. Hagner, Lt. Col. Ord..". There are two u-shaped brackets on either side of the saddle tree. The ends of these brackets are exposed after an outer leather covering is put on the tree and the leather stirrup belts are attached to them. There is an oval stamped plaque 4.1cm x 2.6cm attached with two brads to the back proper left side of the saddle tree. This plaque reads, "E. WATERS, MAKER, TROY, N.Y."
