Object Name Moccasin
Description Moccasins, Creek or Cherokee, Southeastern United States. Ca. 1830. Hide, glass beads, silk ribbon. No restoration or repair. Previous owners: Bill Guthman, Westport, CT and Robert Vandenburg, Santa Fe, NM.
A pair of soft-soled, front seam adult moccasins. The front seam on the toe is covered with a pink silk ribbon, while the back seam is covered with a dark brown silk ribbon. Both ribbon covers are worked into the beaded decoration around them. The toe is covered with floral leaves in blue, white and black glass beads. The heel is decorated with a yellow sun-like pattern in yellow and white glass beads. The cuffs are lined with pink silk fabric and the edge is bound with a brown silk ribbon.
