General Officer's Militia Blue Velvet Cloth Belt with black cotton backing and gold bullion edging. Die-Struck, rolled brass plate has an applied brass tongue and belt loop bar. This belt would have been for full dress only and would have been a sash belt and not a sword belt. The belt once had 3 stars applied to belt back (impressions are evident). The rolled brass plate has an applied brass tongue and belt loop bar (see O'Donnell & Campbell plate #401). This type of plate was inexpensive and popular among volunteer regiments in the 1840's and 1850's (2nd and 3rd Seminole Wars). Third Seminole War period.
