Catalog Number 1996.55.4
Object Name Skirt
Description Seminole patchwork skirt: seven orange bands, three bands of patchwork, three bands of striped print. Two patchwork bands are of the cross/sacred fire pattern, and the last is a modification of the man on horse. There is a 2" black ruffle at hip. Multiple bands of various colored fabric 1 1/4" wide. Floral print waist band/tie. Side panel 4 1/4" x 16 1/4" of mismatched patchwork. It is most likely that the patchwork patch panel is from a later outfit, due to the fact that there is ric-rac on the panel but not on the skirt itself. "C-14" is written in black marker to either side of the top opening of the skirt. The skirt measures 42" long and 64" wide when fanned out. It was purchased as a set with 1996.55.3, for $7200.
