Seminole or Creek garter, mid 19th century, made of red and blue/green wool yarn, cotton thread and white glass beads. The central section of the garter is finger woven, while the five drops on either end of the garter are heddle woven. Each drop ends in a large tassel and the drop measures approximately 40cm long (including tassel). The tassels are created by sections of yarn folded through a loop formed at the end of the drop and tied off with additional wool yarn. Seven of the tassels have red outsides with an inner section of blue/green yarn and three of the tassels have red outsides with a maroon inner section. This sash is similar to and associated with 2007.88.1.
