Pair of moccasins, possibly Creek, Southeastern United States, ca. 1830. Walnut dyed hide, glass and gold beads. Old splits in hide (stitched), several small holes in soles. Previously owned by Herman Von Bonk Collection, Munchen, Germany.
Floral beaded decoration encircles the heel of the moccasins in white, pink and turquoise glass beads. The top of the toe is decorated with beaded curled branches of decorations in pink, turquoise, white purple and gold glass beads. The cuff is lined with a dark brown plain weave fabric (silk? Synthetic?) and the outer edge of the cuff is decorated with a line of white glass beads.
