Black and white photographic print of Dr. Stanley Drake, President of Broward Business College, standing with Agnes Johns and Dorothy Osceola in their caps and gowns on graduation day from Broward Business College in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
"Dorothy Osceola and Agnes Johns were enrolled under a program of the Bureau of Indian Affairs whereby their tuition was paid and also subsistence. Withe the aid of "Friends of the Seminoles" a nice apartment was rented near the College. The President was reluctant at first about enrolling Seminole students because a few years before some Seminole girls were enrolled and they attended class in traditional Seminole dress. Thus they were a curiosity. When Mr. Boehmer assured Dr. Drake that these girls would dress like other students and fit in to the college program well, they were admitted. Both girls did good work and were graduated. During this same time, Dorothy enrolled in night adult educaiton classes and earned her GED high school diploma."
