Silas Casey to his wife Abby; He writes from Fort Fanning E. Fla.; re: crossing the Withalacoochee to Homassassee capturing an Indian pony. Includes, "We have taken one Indian and 4 camps. We went across the WItholecoachee (Withlacoochee?) as far as the hammock of the Homasassee. The Indian decived us and did not take us to a camp as he said he would. We suffered having to sleep two nights without any fire...I am ordered to occupy No 15 about 40 miles from Garey Ferry...We took an Indian Pony....It was as beautiful little animal and very gentle.
