Letter written from Fort Clinch on January 21, 1837. The letter is not addressed by name and the bottom right corner, which may have born a signature is torn off and missing. The person writing the letter is following orders sent to him and reporting on the men under his command. He states that he has 88 men but he was ordered by General Harney to send 15 of the men to protect the settlements. The letter goes on to describe the types and amounts of firearms and ammunition that he has available to him.
