Letter written by Morgan Mizell, 2nd Lieutenant Commanding at Fort Monroe, to Captain William H. Kendrick at Fort Dade, Florida. The letter is a report in which MIzell states that all is in good order and that all of the men are able for duty with the exception of one who is convalescing and should be able to resume full duties soon.
"Morgan Mizell served in the Seminole Wars of 1856 in ET Kendrick's company and was promoted to a second Lieutenant in 1862. He married Emma Roper and fathered four children. The 3rd brother was mustered in the Confederate Army in Nov 1861 and promoted to First Seargent. Joshua Mizell served in the Old Guards, mounted rangers, under Captain James H. Brecker from March to May in 1862. He died in 1865, survived by his widow Mary. Father and Mother's names were David and Angeline and they had 7 children. He was the 6th born."
